The Beginning Of Arkavita Ventures

Welcome! I'm so glad you're here to listen to me ramble.
Arkavita Ventures has been an idea that my husband and I have been workshopping for years now, and honestly, now didn't seem like a good time to start. I'm not just saying that to come back and say "but it never feels like the right time". This is the first post, so I want to set a precedent that I will always be real and honest.
Let me give you a little perspective: My husband and I have been married for almost 2 years now, togther for almost 5, friends for 8. We have a 1 year old honeymoon baby, and moved from the United States to the Netherlands for my husband to get a Masters. A bit complicated right? Then there's the housing crisis and the job market for expats like me. Nothing seems to be working in our favor at this moment, but we (mostly me) are stubborn and are determined to figure this out.
Okay so, if now isn't a good time to start, why do it? Honestly, because I have no other option, and nothing to lose. Yes, we have been talking nonstop about this company for years and have stacks on stacks of ideas, but financially, this has the possibilty of ruining us. (Like I said, I'm gonna be real honest).
More than anything, this is hard because I refuse to compromise quality and values for the sake of money. I want to do this right. What even is right? To me, that means allowing me to still be present as a wife and mother, with the opportunity to adjust based on the needs of my family at the time. It also means supporting likeminded individuals and companies, because I am not for everyone, and everyone isn't for me(see Arkavita's 'values' page for more information).
In the end, we are creating a lifestyle brand. A community of people who want to prioritize intentional, well-balanced, self-sufficient living, without compromising a Target shopping spree, or your favorite dessert. If you're intriuged, read more about our mission, or wait for the next chaotic post for less business-y, more imperfect human talk.
Thanks for staying, Sarah
